Postdivorce Coparenting Patterns and Relations With Adolescent Adjustment

This study examined the association between postdivorce coparenting patterns and adolescent internalizing externalizing behavior. Children after parental divorce increasingly grow up in shared residence arrangements, making much more pertinent. The Coparenting Behavior Questionnaire was used to investigate perceptions of 251 Dutch adolescents regarding behaviors. Latent class analysis identify patterns, associations with outcomes were examined. Four distinct identified: cooperative, negatively engaged, disengaged, average. Adolescents parents a cooperative pattern reported least amount problems, whereas engaged most problems. In line family systems theory, interactions coparental subsystem are associated adjustment can therefore be viewed as both risk protective factor.
